I'd start withSharon Creech's Love That Dog; Hate That Cat; Heartbeat; Granny Torrelli MakesSoup. Then I'd try Mountain Dog by Margarita Engle or Garvey's Choice by NikkiGrimes.

I told it fiction books, from 2.0 - 4.0 and atopic of character traits, but there are many others to choose from. There are many suggestions and I then check reviews on Amazon.
