Yesterday I received an email from a middle school English teacher saying
that *Speak*/Anderson, which has been taught here in 8th grade for many
years, is being pulled from the curriculum because parents complained. Ah
the irony that it would happen this week! But I'm sad for my school. This
is my 13th year here and it's the first time this has happened, to my
knowledge. My school is just a couple of miles from Stanford so the news
has been full of stories about what happened there and it seems a weird
time to pull this book. I had to share - feeling a bit down today.
