Carlos Afonso, executive director of the Information Network for the
Third Sector [RITS] was blessed with the ARede 2008 Award for the best
projects for digital inclusion in the country. CA has been elected by
the judges of the award as Personality of the Year 2008 for its
militancy among the entities of the third sector, which has been
promoting social inclusion through the development of Internet and
digital inclusion programs.

ARede initiative of the magazine, the award was also given to eight
projects, in terms Special Education, Enterprise, Public Sector and
Third Sector. Of the total of 206 projects registered, coming from
nearly all states of Brazil, the majority (79) belongs to the category
Special Education.

In video, CA thanked the award, pointing out that Brazil needs a
strategic and coordinated national policy for information and
communication technologies for development [ICT4D] , which takes into
account the scanning in all areas, in all territories, and that
benefit, especially the families of lower income.
