* Upcoming ICANN conference in Tunisia--ICANN plans to hold its next conference (scheduled for October 27-31 2003) in Tunisia--a country that has been heavily criticized for its efforts to suppress online free speech.
* ICANN hires more staff as part of "corporate restructuring" effort--ICANN has hired two lawyers to become part of its senior staff. John Jeffrey, ICANN's new General Counsel, is a "corporate and intellectual property attorney and litigator" who previously had worked as outside counsel to the organization (through the law firm of Jones Day). Curiously, Jeffrey will "remain involved in certain matters as outside counsel" even though he is now an ICANN employee. ICANN has also hired Kurt Pritz (a former Walt Disney executive) to be its new Vice President of Business Operations.
