In an interview with CNET News, ICANN the Chairman Vint Cerf questioned the wisdom of creating more Top-Level Domains, saying "it is not clear that having a larger number of them would necessarily have been helpful." Among other things, he claimed there were "some side effects" from the last round of TLDs (including .aero, .biz and 5 other domains), which ICANN approved in 2000: "We're still uncovering places where .aero, for example, does not work." Cerf was noncommittal on several other subjects, including whether ICANN would accept USD 100 000 from GoDaddy in its ongoing legal battle with Verisign as well as privacy protections for Whois domain registrant information.
