Summary

The ICANN Board of Directors met in Marina del Rey, Los Angeles from
9-11 August, and worked on the following topics: 

* Review of the terms of the Joint Project Agreement (JPA) between ICANN
and the US Department of Commerce, and review of progress on ICANN's
responsibilities under the JPA
(http://www.icann.org/general/agreements.htm): 

* Security and stability of the system of unique identifiers 

* Transparency 

* Accountability 

* TLD management
 
* Multi-stakeholder model 

* Role of governments (GAC) 

* IP addressing 

* Corporate responsibility 

* Corporate administrative structure and practices 

* Review of objectives for 2008 on the major topics facing ICANN; 
- New gTLDs process, 
- Internationalized Domain Names, 
- Security issues, 
- DNSSEC, 
- IPv4 and IPv6, 
- Outreach and the Internet Governance Forum. 

* Board governance issues; 
- Discussion of the terms of reference for review of the Board, 
- Succession and leadership planning, 
- Global outreach
