Indeed, in the early nineties, when I was taking over the
running of the Internet services in my country, I asked
the guy whom I was taking over, what
makes the Internet work, Dr Tommi Chen told me, it is obvious,
the "Internet spirit of voluntarism", of which many in
this forum exemplify.
