Dear all,
Thank you for all comments on the subject. Reading the discussion and
Mr Folly's statement below, my conclusion at this point is that
(1) it is a good cause and members are encouraged to join, but
(2) it is not directly relevant to the purpose of NCSG (gTLD policy
development),
(3) we don't really have any resources to spare, and
(4) as we haven't endorsed such campaigns as NCSG before it would
require a longer debate on a more general level before we begin
to do so,
therefore we should not join the campaign now.
I will, however, take this back to the Executive Committee
for reconsideration.
Thank you all,
Tapani Tarvainen

To All : thanks for your support, I appreciate very much. However, I
would like to clarify that my primary intention was to invite key
people or organizations (at strategic level) to join the campaign on
the behalf of their organization or as individual, so the targets were
individuals or organizations within NCUC/NPOC-NCSG. Nonetheless, I
don’t see any objection about joining the campaign as a whole Group
(NCSG), instead, but I am afraid this would lead to a time consuming
process. We may put the generic discussion “What kind of campaign can
we (NCSG) support?” on a different agenda, during a meeting for future
reactions.

This is doubtlessly a great campaign but I reckon that NCUC/NCSG joining it , with the already huge amount of work, is overambitious. Yes for individual endorsement though.

These are excellent goals for NCSG members to support, but our remit here in ICANN is not the same remit as say the IGF or other fora, and we need to respect that and not stray outside of what our goals at ICANN are which are limited.

Subject: Re: Invitation to join the #Internet4All campaign
Dear Chair,
Looking at the global trends and direction internet governance is going and for us to make sense to a lot more people in relation to the state of the internet, what has being achieve and the opportunities it make a lot of sense join the Internet4all campaign. Also, to refresh our mind on the United Nations Agenda 2030.
resolution 70/1 of 25 September 2015, entitled “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, in which it adopted a comprehensive, far-reaching and people-centred set of universal and transformative Sustainable Development Goals and targets, its commitment to working tirelessly for the full implementation of the Agenda by 2030, its recognition that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development, its commitment to achieving sustainable development in its three dimensions — economic, social and environmental in a balanced and integrated manner, and to building upon the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals and seeking to address their unfinished business,
It was also reaffirm that Internet governance should continue to follow the provisions set forth in the outcomes of the summits held in Tunis and Geneva.
In paragraph 55 of the Tunis Agenda, and in this regard recognize that the existing arrangements have worked effectively to make the Internet the highly robust, dynamic and geographically diverse medium that it is today, with the private sector taking the lead in day-to-day operations and with innovation and the creation of value at the edges. However, almost 4 billion people, representing approximately two thirds of the people residing in developing countries, remain offline.
It was also recognize that there is a need to promote greater participation and engagement in the Internet governance discussions of Governments, the private sector, civil society, international organizations, the technical and academic communities and all other relevant stakeholders from developing countries, particularly African countries, least developed countries, landlocked developing countries and small island developing States, and middle-income countries, as well as countries in situations of conflict, post-conflict countries and countries affected by natural disasters. We call for strengthened, stable, transparent and voluntary funding mechanisms to this end.
The following six components was discuss extensively at the UN and adopted by member state to form key components of the the SGD's and considered that internet for that matter internet governance does have links to all this components and should be the tool to drive it.
1 - Ending poverty and hunger
2 - Tackling inequalities, empowering women and girls and leaving no one behind
3 - Fostering sustainable economic growth and transformation and promoting sustainable consumption and production
4 - Protecting our Planet and Combatting Climate Change
5 - Building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions
6 - A strengthened global partnership for realizing the post-2015 development agenda
In this regard i support NCSG to sign onto the Internet4all campaign.
Cheers.

Dear all,
We have been asked to support #Internet4all campaign as explained
below. NCSG Executive Committee wants to hear members' opinions,
should we sign it as NCSG or not. Whether you think we should or not,
feel free to simply indicate your preference ("yes", "no", "+1", "-1")
or explain it more verbosely, as you like.
In any event our members can sign it individually if they so
choose.
If you have any questions about it, Farell Folly is on this
list and should be able to answer them better than I can.
Thank you,
