I guess I will have to repeat myself for a third time: the core values, principles, etc. are all about what the board can and cannot do, not what the AC or SO can do. Removing an explicit statement that the board cannot violate its other commitments in deference to GAC or "other public authority" (!!!) advice is obviously a mistake when looked at in that context.
