Dear all,
This call is about possible nomination of Heather Forrest as NCPH
candidate for the GNSO Council Chair election.
GNSO rules say that each house gets to nominate a candidate, and as
part of Non-Contracted Parties House (NCPH) NCSG can nominate someone
together with CSG - not by ourselves.
There is no formal procedure for the purpose, no official election of
potential nominees, we just have to find an agreement with CSG. If we
don't, NCPH can't nominate anyone.
The actual election of the Chair will be done by the Council at the
end of the Annual General Meeting in Abu Dhabi, with 60% supermajority
requirement.
Heather Forrest, from CSG, specifically IPC (Intellectual Property
Constituency), has sought our endorsement for the nomination.
Our Policy Committee will eventually decide the issue, but all
members are invited to express their opinions.
This call gives us a chance to question her about her plans as the Chair,
if she is elected.
Apologies for short notice, but the nomination deadline is already on Monday
and we were unable to schedule this faster.
