Hi,

Sorry for the delay in responding, I had a couple of pressing
deadlines that I've just cleared.

Thanks so much for your kind words, and of course I share your
sentiments regarding the need to pursue meaningful, multistakeholder
collaboration.

In terms of the IPC's approach and prioritization, they certainly
didn't share any "battle plans" with us, but what was interesting was
to hear how these debates were presented and discussed among an IP
audience, which revealed a bit about their view of the specific
function and utility of the WHOIS in particular. Dean Marks, in a
presentation, sort of walked the audience through how he used the
WHOIS in his work. None of this is secret, but seeing it presented in
that kind of step by step way was useful in trying to brainstorm out
where a common ground/consensus position might end up.

We did not hear any discussions about ongoing fast-track content
removal processes, but we have every reason to believe these
"untrusted notifier" programs are continuing -- slowly and quietly --
in the background, and it definitely deserves attention and concern.
It is also worth noting that we did hear discussion from the
professors in the academic track about fair use and takedown requests
for fanfiction, and the evolution of an emerging set of new rules that
seem to better accommodate user created content.

Happy to chat further, or answer any more questions,

Michael
