Hi,

As the new Convergence web site has come on line, I have started, slowly slowly, creating a NCSG wiki.

One of the duties of the chair, both in the bottom-up charter we approved and in the charter currently under review, is to maintain a public members list. This is a Stakeholder Group/Constituency requirement for the entire GNSO that comes out of the 'improvements' process.

The list is at:

https://community.icann.org/display/gnsononcomstake/Members

This my view of the current member list and the representative for each of the organizational members. This list is composed of the NCUC membership as well as those who have joined NCSG directly. It should correspond to the list of people who participated in the last vote plus anyone who has joined since then. I want to make sure it does reflect what it should reflect.

It does not include members of the Candidate Constituencies who have not applied for and been approved for membership separately. The members of Candidate Constituencies who meet NCSG membership requirements will be folded into the NCSG membership list automatically once the Candidate Constituency is approved for full status. In the meantime, any individual or organization, whether in a Candidate Constituency or not, who meets NCSG membership requirements as defined in the charter, is welcome to apply for membership in the NCSG. The membership committee reviews all applications. At the moment the process of application consists of sending the <[log in to unmask]> a note explaining how you meet the criteria set out in the NCSG charter. Contact me for further information - we need to introduce an online membership form, but that is awaiting for either a volunteer to create it or for me to have more time.

Note: Any NCSG active Member who has been an active member for at least thirty (30) days before the date of the election is eligible to nominate candidates, and vote in NCSG elections,.

PLEASE VERIFY YOUR MEMBERSHIP ENTRY.
IF YOU FIND A PROBLEM, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
IF I DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR EMAIL,
PLEASE LET ME KNOW AGAIN

PLEASE CHECK BY 14 JUNE (THAT IS 10 DAYS)

Once I am satisfied in have the correct membership list, I will begin working on a voter's list for the upcoming votes. We have THREE major votes coming up:

- To re-approve our charter once the Board has finished its processes
- To elect our first formal NCSG Chair
- To elect 4 council members, 3 for a 2 years term and 1 for a one year term.

It may be reasonable to combines the second two into a single voting event, but that depends on timing. More on all of this later.

Once I have buit the voters email list, built with the best information I have (including from the last vote) I will send a email to each of the voters asking for confirmation. I will send the confirmation email out 2 times separated by at least 5 days.

If I do not get a confirmation on these email attempts, or if the email bounces, I will try whatever means to contact the listed voter (phone, faq, carrier pigeon ...).

According to our proposed charter any voter I do not reach, will be moved to an inactive members list, will NOT be counted for purposes of voting quorum and will NOT receive a ballot in the voting. Inactive members can be reinstated anytime, by contacting me (or a member of a small elections assistance team I am setting up) with a working set of verifiable contact points.

Last thing: as mentioned above I am setting up a small voting assistance team. I have already tapped a few lucky victims and plan to tap a few more. If any of you wants to get into this sort of hands-on thankless effort of chasing people for the addresses or finding out what has happened when someone has not received their ballot, let me know. It won't be fun, it is a pain in the neck (and perhaps elsewhere). The work gets intensive during voting periods when part of the task includes getting out the vote - and asking people to search through their filters for the ballot they can't find.

Anyway, back to today's request: please check to see that your name is list properly in the membership list. You don't need to let me know it is correct, but please let me know about any errors or omissions.

thanks
a.
