Thanks for clarifying, although it needs to be said that perhaps the act 
of proposing someone isn't the most appropriately balanced way of asking 
the list to opine on the choice of (multiple, as it happens) candidates.

Rivers of +1 are a very helpful way to get a rough consensus on a 
position paper that needs to go out, say.

I trust the PC can make the determination they are chartered to make 
without the unnecessary theatricals (sorry to be blunt), or perhaps, if 
it decides on consulting as part of its determination process, it can 
announce it.

But hey, this is largely behind us and I'd like to thank Sam for 
considering the job and for his gracious expression of continued dedication.
