Dear friends,

I have to explain to you why I missed the recent GNSO Council meeting.

I informed the secretariat of the GNSO Council one week before the meeting that I will be unable to participate due to my flight schedule. On Thursday I was on my way from Brussels (EU Task Force on the Internet of Things) to Sofia (IGF Bulgaria) via Munich. When the GNSO Council meeting started I was in a plane.

In an e-mail to the NCSG Councillors (November 13, 11.02 a.m.) I asked who would be ready to take my proxy. In the hectic of the day to day duties between Baku and Brussels I did not doublecheck whether a GNSO Councillor replied. I estimated that Joy, Dave or Wendy will take my vote. Obviously this did not happen.

Unfortunatly there was another mistake. I did send my apologies to the GNSO secretariat (for reasons I can not explain) to Gisella only. Rather late I realized that Glen was not cc. However Gisella replied and said that she does forward the apologies to Glen. Obviously this did not happen as well so I was counted as "absent".

When I arrived in Sofia, Thomas Rickert informed me about the very turbulent meeting and the outcome. I realized that the voting was very close and each vote was needed. Fortunately my missing vote was not decisive in the rejection of the moratorium.

Once again I apologize for the miscommunication.

Best wishes

wolfgang
