I had the opportunity to attend the SSAC open session @ the san juan
icann meeting. Of the presentations, one was quite of interest...
that being on the topic of :

Is the WHOIS service a source for email addresses for spammers

quick notes:

- positive correlation between publishing email address in whois and
spam being received.

the whois service a source for email addresses for spammers was
interesting as it presented the results of technical study that
evaluated if publication of email address leads to spam.

interesting in several aspects - the first being that technical
measures used to mask and/or protect email addresses cut down
spam.the other being the comments by ICANN's ceo

transcript of the session will be online tomorrow, slides of the
session will be online by the end of the meeting.

regards,

Robert
