We have 2 7500ce's here, still putting out data. Several hundred this month already.
We had an issue with one a couple months ago where the sensitivity was barely there. Almost every part was changed out without much effect. A second service tech probably said it was near it's end. A couple weeks back the instrument was back to itself and is as sensitive as ever.
There are some parts for the 7500 that are no longer available though, that's something to keep in mind. Apparently there used to be 2 turbo pumps on them and one of those is a part no longer available. Agilent still services these two, but they might want to come out and check the instrument before they start a new service contract on an instrument that they haven't been servicing for a while, if at all.
Best of luck,

Subject: ICP-MS Equipment
I am part of a small laboratory. We are looking to add ICP-MS as one of our capabilities.
Currently, we do a small volume of testing (~200 samples per year).
I am looking at refurbished units, including a Agilent 7500cs unit from GenTech. I do not have experience with ICP-MS at all, so I am looking to collect information to see if this is actually a reasonable option.
Does anyone (US-based) else currently have an Agilent 7500 unit that is in operation and still have a service contract? Are there service providers that will still serve this unit? I am in the northeast in DE. The other concern is availability of parts... How concerned should I be about this?
Any other information that you all can provide would be EXTREMELY appreciated. I've been working on building a case for this for a long while, and we have some future costs that might serve to justify acquisition.
Thank you again!
