Are you able to "ping" your 7700 from PC? This is to check to make sure PC and 7700 can talk to each other.

Subject: EXT: No communication between Agilent 7700x and PC (MassHunter)
Dear fellow ICP-MS users,
I am a new list member and do apologise if the following issue has been previously discussed.
A defect power supply forced us to change the PC with MassHunter (Version B.01.0 running on Windows Vista Business) for our Agilent 7700x ICP-MS. The old hard drive, containing the previously used settings, was transferred into a RM Desktop 310 (Core I5, 3300MHz, 4096MB). The ASX-500 RS-232 plug was connected via a serial-to-USB adapter. PC device manager and Agilent Connection Expert indicate that all (physical) connections (Ethernet and RS-232-USB) are recognised with correct port numbers. IP address and Subnet mask are correctly stated in the BootP, ICP-MS configuration and TCP/Pv4 internet protocol settings but no PC-to-instrument communication was established. MassHunter froze in the "initializing process" during start-up. Re-starting the PC and power cycling the ICP-MS is not helping.
Agilent Technical Support suggested to use a Windows 7 (32-bit) system even though the old system worked fine (> 8 years) with Vista. A new computer was set up with Windows 7 (32-bit), MassHunter was re-installed from the original CD, IO Libraries 15.5 was installed and two different Ethernet crossover cables were tested (no switching HUB, straight connection). We followed the MassHunter installation guide step by step. The result remains the same, connection but no communication between PC and ICP-MS.
In the meanwhile we are not even able to switch the instrument from Shut down into Standby mode, neither via MassHunter (no Ethernet communication) nor via the Vacuum On/Off switch behind the front panel. The indicator light at the ICP-MS front remains steady red. Agilent engineers and fellow colleagues were not able to help.
Did anyone encounter similar problems? Every little help or suggestion is appreciated!
Many thanks in advance and best regards
