I am looking for somebody with some experience in analyzing rocks for major element using a ICP-ES.
I am trying to get a sense of what is best, especially the kind of nebulizer (borosilicate glass, polyP, teflon) and dissolution methods that allow to get Si data (microwave, fusion).
With the microwave dissolution, HF is used for the dissolution. Because it cannot be evaporated without a Si loss, it is neutralized using Boric acid. This yield to a relatively high TDS and I am wondering if there is really not arm done to a borosilicate nebulizer.
I am tempted to try a teflon neb. Because it is expensive, I am trying to find somebody that could share his knowledge about getting Si data on the ICP-ES before doing any purchase.
