Subject: EGU 2011 Vienna - Call for abstracts!
Dear colleagues!
We are pleased to draw your attention to an outstanding session on
‘non-traditional isotopes’ (e.g. Sr, Ca, Cd, Ba, Hg, Pb) at the
European Geosciences Union - General Assembly 2011, Vienna, Austria, 03 –
08 April 2011:
“Application of non-traditional stable isotopes in biogeosciences”
http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2011/session/7014
An increasing number of isotopic systems have been investigated for the
last couple of years augmenting significantly the information content in
geosciences. This session accommodates this recent trend and invites
contributions in ecogeochemistry with a focus on the analysis of
non-traditional stable isotopes (e.g. Sr, Ca, Cd, Ba, Hg, Pb).
Studies from both terrestrial and aquatic (including marine)
environments dealing with migration in biological systems, food
authentication, environmental monitoring, forensics and archaeometry as
well as methodological and experimental studies introducing new
approaches or techniques (e.g. spiking studies, instrumental
developments, laser ablation technologies) are highly welcome.
The session is a unique opportunity to bring together experts from
different fields of research making use of ‘non-traditional isotopes’ as
pivot.
The session is convened by Thomas Prohaska, Andreas Zitek (both:
University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences), Jane Evans (British
Geological Survey), Takafume Hirata (Kyoto University), Laura Robinson
(Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution) and Frank Vanhaecke (University
of Ghent).
We cordially invite you to submit an abstract to this session using the
on-line abstract submission tool.
The abstract submission deadline is 10 January 2011.
It is possible to obtain financial support via the EGU using the
on-line support application forms. The deadline for support applications
is 3 December 2010.
An additional workshop on the topic of the session participants during
the EGU 2011 during a joint dinner is scheduled and sponsored by
external partners.
The outcome of the session is planned to be published in a special
issue or edited book.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in Vienna 2011,
Thomas Prohaska, on behalf of the team of conveners
PS: we apologize any cross posting
