A 15 second analysis by XRF is more appropriate. Again most geology departments will be equipped with this type of instrument as it is routinely used to determine the geochemical composition of rock samples, which are siliceous substrates (40 - 80% SiO2).

Sorry for being a bit off normal topic but I am looking for a lab that can analyze a dry material by laser ablation ICP. I think the material is Silicon Dioxide but I need confirmation. I noticed that there are a number of labs that run LA-ICP-MS but I would think that the concentration would be too high for that instrument.
I would welcome any suggestions on or off line.
