I have a X-series gen 1 ICP MS that is tripping between pulse and analog mode during our calibration. I know this doesn't sound that abnormal, but please read the results we are seeing. Our internal standard contains Scandium, and we run a 7point calibration + a blank...standard 1 and 2 are in pulse mode, standard 3 and 4 trip to analog, then standard 5, 6, and 7 all are in pulse. Has anyone else had this trouble? I have tested our instrument with scandium concentrations of 2ppb, 4ppb, 10ppb, 60ppb, and 120ppb and all of them demonstrate the same behavior.
This is resulting in our QC, which is all in the standard 3 and 4 range for concentrations to fail RSD's. Due to methodology we are running, this essentially makes recoveries difficult, and RSD's impossible to keep consistent.
If anyone has any ideas for a resolution please feel free to assist!
Thank you very much!
