To all the Vendors on the list
FLASH FLASH !!!!!
This is the first call for VENDOR registration and abstracts for the 1999
Plasma Winter Conference VENDOR WORKHOP ON PLASMA INSTRUMENTATION, SAMPLE
PREPARATION AND ACCESSORIES . This event was successful in Scottsdale and we
intend to organize an identical event in Pau, France. We hope that you will
participate and present your latest developments. The event is planned for
Sunday 10 th at 8 am for the whole day. The general community is being
invited and for them participation is free of charge. Details are included
in the attached file. As in Scottsdale in Pau we will emphsize the
scientific and technical standard and encourage discussion and comparison.
I would be grateful if you could reply as very soon as possible about your
intentions and also to provide me a title and some presenters. The abstract
dead line is the 15 September.
For vendors that have not purchased a booth in the conference exhibition,
each abstract submitted and accepted for presentation will be 3000 FF.
Hoping to hear from you soon
Best regards Joe

TO ALL VENDORS AND PARTICIPANTS
This is the first announcement and call for abstracts for the Vendors
Workshop in Plasma and Sample Preparation Instrumentation, to be held at the
forthcoming ICP Winter Conference, Sunday 10 January, 1998 in Pau, France
beginning at 8 am.
Sunday the 10 January (the whole day) will be a unique opportunity for the
Pau Winter Conference participants to learn about new and commercial
developments in plasma instrumentation, sample preparation and accessories
directly from their producers. Chaired and organized by Dr. Joe Brenner, the
aim is also to discuss specifications and performances straightforwardly
with other vendors and participants.
Technical presentations of the new developments will be made by instrument
company representatives, and questions and discussion are encouraged from
The workshop will be divided into several sessions:
· Plasma source atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES and DCP-AES),
· ICP-MS (quads, TOF, high resolution, multiple collectors)
· Glow discharges
· Sample preparation, speciation and preconcentration devices
· Plasma accessories, for example, ETV, HPLC, spark and laser ablation.
Each presentation will be allotted 15 minutes + 5 minutes for discussion and
questions. Additional time will be allocated at the end of each session.
Some of the vendors will be allotted more than one presentation due to their
wide product line. In order to maintain the high scientific and
technological tradition of the ICP Winter Conference, we have formulated the
following guidelines which vendors should adhere to when submitting their
abstracts-summaries and their presentations:
· General guidelines
a. Definitely no sales talk
b. NEW developments only
c. Handouts, brochures and application notes are welcome
d. The vendors must be willing to discuss openly the analytical performances
of their products. Comparisons will be made.
The following are examples of topics but others are very welcome
· 1. ICP-AES
Detection capabilities, transient signals
Data processing - chemometrics, archiving
Sample introduction, difficult samples, speciation, flow injection
Excitation - organics, mixed gases
· 2. Other Plasma Sources
DC arc and Spark
· 3. ICP-MS
Spectrometer configurations (Hi resolution, TOFs, Ion Traps, Hexapoles and
collision cells. multiple collectors)
Detection - dual detectors and transient analysis
Atomization and ionization - “cold plasmas”
Interface developments - S options
Sample introduction (preconcentration and on-line handling, speciation,
difficult samples, solids, GC, HPLC, IC, FIA, CE, Vapor Generation,
intelligent samplers, etc.)
· 4. Accessories, standards and other topics
Semiconductors - attenuation of interferences with membrane desolvation
Speciation and preconcentration reagents and devices
Isotope standards, standard reference materials
On line sample processing and preparation
The event at the last conference in Scottsdale was successful and we hope
that the workshop in Pau will follow in the spirit of the high technical and
scientific levels of the conference sessions which have become the signature
of Winter ICP conferences.
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: Vendors should submit their abstracts-summaries by
