PIR Advisory Committee: Call for nominations Public Interest Registry, which operates the .org TLD, has an Advisory Council made up of leaders from a broad spectrum of the noncommercial world. The Council serves as a means of incorporating worldwide input on policies, strategies, programs, and services affecting the noncommercial community. The NCUC is asked to nominate one member of the PIR Advisory Council. Last year, YJ Park was our representative. It is time to appoint a new representative. The next meeting of the PIR Adv. Council will be in Washington, DC in March. Under our charter, the Executive Committee appoints our PIR Advisory Council representative. Members however can nominate people to represent us. This year is a critical one for the PIR AC representative. The EC intends to develop a proposal for long-term support for the NCUC and submit it to PIR via the Advisory Council. Whoever represents us at PIR must be able to help develop this proposal and win support for it among all the other PIR members. See http://www.pir.org/about_pir/a_c/ for a list of current members. Please nominate anyone you think suitable and willing. Self-nominations are acceptable. The Exec. Committee needs to make a decision about this fairly quickly. Thanks, Milton Mueller NCUC Chair
