Dear Robin and all,
I read the report on the GNSO improvements implementation plan
and the proposals that it seeks to put forward. I would like to put myself
forward for the GNSO policy process steering committee (PPSC) which is linked
to my research on new forms of policy making and I am sure that ICANN will
provide me with a lot of material to work on. I am still trying to get my head
around all the issues involved (as a relatively new member of NCUC) but I am
sure that it will not be rocket science.
Thanks
Konstantinos

Subject: Fwd: [council] Action Items from GNSO Council meeting 25
September 2008
NCUC:
We've got a full list of action items for the constituency
to consider in the coming weeks. Below is a summary from Glen with links
to relevant reports.
There are three reports for us to consider and comment on,
including a very important GNSO
Improvements Implementation Plan, which is expected for a vote on 16
October. And we need 2 volunteers for steering committees to work on
implementation.
Please consider the WHOIS Hypothesis Study Group Report as
there will be a vote on 16 October, which if any studies are to be pursued.
We also need any comments on the Geographic Regions Report
by 16 October when the GNSO Comments are expected to be finalized.
We need volunteers for a drafting team on GNSO travel
policy.
Please send any comments or expressions of interest to
volunteer for these assignments to this list.
Thanks!
Robin

Dear Councilors,
Please note the immediate action items that arose from the
Council meeting today, Thursday 25 September 2008.
1. Council representatives are asked to forward the
recommended GNSO comments regarding the ICANN Geographic Regions report,
to their respective constituencies for discussion and
comment as applicable and be prepared to finalize the GNSO comments in the
Council meeting on 16 October 2008.
2. Council representatives are asked to distribute the
updated draft GNSO Improvements Implementation Plan
right away, expedite discussions in their constituencies,
and be prepared to vote on a motion at the GNSO Council meeting on 16 October
2008.
In addition constituencies should be starting the process of
selecting one representative each for the two steering committees so that the
first Steering Committee meetings can be held in Cairo.
3. Constituencies should call for volunteers for a drafting
team to develop a proposal for consideration by the Council for ICANN
subsidization of GNSO travel expenses. Volunteer's names should be sent to the
Council mailing list. Olga Cavalli and Zahid Jamil were the first two
volunteers at the meeting.
4. Councilors should forward the WHOIS Hypotheses Study
Group report to their respective constituencies ASAP for discussion and comment
as applicable in preparation for beginning the process at the Council meeting
on 16 October 2008 of deciding which, if any studies should be pursued further.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Glen
