Please note that ICANN is now accepting comments on the new gTLD proposal. Comments should be sent at: http://www.icann.org/en/topics/new-gtlds/comments-en.htm and the full handbook on the new gTLDs can be found at: http://www.icann.org/en/topics/new-gtlds/draft-rfp-24oct08-en.pdf. You must have noticed from some of the discussion that has already taken place within the list that the new proposal opposed basic principles of law as well as others. So please do proceed and comment.
