I agree with the comments about the Olympics being commercial. I'm afraid to say the Red Cross' approach to/at ICANN to date leaves me skeptical here. I also agree with the last comment and think it's important to consider whether it works in theory. Would it be acceptable to extend the privilege to the whole class of worthy/good causes/charities (or however the class might be defined)?
