Subject: [soac-discussion] Cross-constituency strategic planning session on 18 October at 10:30 am in Toronto

To:  SO/AC Leadership – heads of all SOs, ACs and other Stakeholder Groups

Thank you for your continued support and engagement in ICANN’s strategic development process. We have taken into consideration community feedback gathered through consultations and submitted public comments and look forward to seeing you in Toronto for another productive session.  Please note that the next Cross-constituency Strategic Planning Session will take place in Toronto, on Thursday, 18 October 2012, at 10:30 am local time in Metro East Room.

The session will be organized to take comment on the Draft 2013-2016 Strategic Plan posted earlier this week and also raise for discussion future strategy formulation as well as a model for ICANN planning and execution.

With regard to those last two items, community feedback also indicated that ICANN should undertake a full-scale strategy development for the next planning cycle to cover 3 to 5 years and that there be clear linkage of strategy and execution.  ICANN’s leadership will share their ideas and plans for the future planning cycle focused on developing and implementing a strategy that will:

•             Develop a shared vision and define ICANN’s mission, to be followed consistently.

•             Consider environmental forces and new developments that will impact the multi-stakeholder model.

•             Formulate “macro-level” organizational objectives and goals that are clearly derived from ICANN’s vision and mission.

I hope that you can join us and look forward to a productive session.

Thank you for your ongoing engagement,

Kurt
