Congrats, Cintra and all ISOC fellows.
Cintra, there may be other workshops who end up needing remote moderators in the end. I am sure the secretariat would like to know of your willingness. Why don't you drop them a note at igf @ unog.ch to let them know, and see if you can .
still sign up as a resource person as well, in case there are panelists with travel problems
As an RP supporter, I thank you for your offer--I think it is quite possible someone will be glad to have your help.
Best,
Ginger

Hi Cintra

Congratulations on the ISOC fellowship.  Thanks for your interesting in remote moderating.  Alas, the slots have long since been filled, but do feel free to come along and be part of the conversations…

Best,

Bill

Dear Bill,

I have been accepted as a returning ISOC ambassador for IGF 2013 and flag my intention to handle remote moderation for these sessions.

Happy to support NCSG in making impact and contribution at the IGF!

Kind regards

Hello

I've mentioned before NC @ IGF Bali 22-25 October 2013.  I am now in the process of turning the preliminary proposals cleared by the IGF MAG into final, full fledged workshop proposals, due Monday….drafting speakers and institutional co-sponsors, descriptive texts, etc.

NCUC is lead organizer of WS # 253.  The Debate on ‘Closed’ Generic Top Level Domains
 http://www.intgovforum.org/cms/wks2013/viewproposalx.php?done=253

NCUC/NPOC/NCSG are co-organizer of WS # 249.   Civil Society in ICANN’s Multistakeholder Model: The Case of the GNSO
 http://www.intgovforum.org/cms/wks2013/viewproposalx.php?done=249

NCUC is a co-sponsor of WS. # 282.  Internet/Telecom Convergence: Implications for Global Governance
 http://www.intgovforum.org/cms/wks2013/viewproposalx.php?done=282

For the first two workshops, we need Remote Moderators.  RMs are responsible for personning a computer and keeping an eye on discussions among/comments made by remote participants around the world, and reading the latter out in the open Q&A with the audience part of the sessions.  They can also pipe up with their own views during the Q&A, and are listed in the program.  RM training can be provided by the IGF coalition on remote participation; it's not difficult.

We need one RM for each of the first two sessions above.  The RM for the first session ought to be an NCUC member.  The RM for the second session ought to be a member of any of the three co-organizers.

Bearing in mind diversity objectives, persons from the global South, particularly women, would be especially good for these roles.  But of course, folks from other demographics will be given full consideration as well.

The most fundamental requirement is that we need people who know for sure that they will be able to come to Bali.  Due to our financial constraints, offers of the "I'll do it if you pay for my travel and hotel" variety are not viable.  Sorry.  While NCUC does have a pending funding request, were it to work out that support would have to go to a panel speaker.

So: any members who are coming to Bali on their own steam and who might be interested in playing a RM role per the above, please be in contact with me offline ASAP.  Again, I must upload complete proposals to the IGF website on Monday.

Thanks,

Bill
