Hi All,
Tx to Amr for the update! For all interesting in privacy, freedom of
expression and concerned about the explosion of interest in accuracy in
Whois data, please join us for two sessions - in which NCSG people will
be front and center - and where people at the microphones supporting our
NCSG positions would be tremendously valuable.

Both are Monday sessions:
1) Monday, 24 March 2014
ALAC's Roundtable on Registration Directory Services: Now and the Future
(read: Whois)
Time: 15:00-14:30
Meeting Room: VIP
I'm on the panel for the 1st part in part of a discussion of the
proxy/privacy accreditation WG and principles for proxy/privacy services
that serves Registrants (not just those demanding the data). Stephanie
Perrin is on the panel for the second part talking about the Expert
Working Group report and findings. There is planned discussion with the
audience - and comments welcome!

2) Mon, 24 March 2014
The public Expert Working Group (where microphone comments will make a
huge difference!), titled:
Exploring Replacements for WHOIS - The Next Generation Directory Services
Time: 16:30 to 17:30
Room: Bras Basah
A critical conversation about the future of the Whois (now called Next
Gen Directory Services) and the personal and sensitive data of human
rights groups, political parties, ethic, religious, and sexual groups.
Most troubling, the EWG has proposed a new field - Registrant Type (with
only a choice of Individual or Legal Entity, not human rights groups,
not family planning organizations, not girls' schools in Pakistan) - and
our NCSG comments at the microphone can really help to question this
startling recommendation -- and examine its implications including the
likely removal of privacy from human rights, religious, educational,
family planning, and other groups based solely on legal incorporation.

Stephanie Perrin is on the EWG and the panel, and we need a NCSG to
cheer her on and support her amazing work on data protection law
observance, binding corporate rules, and Secured Protected Credentials!

Our NCSG comments to the EWG's November Status Report are posted at:
http://mm.icann.org/pipermail/input-to-ewg/attachments/20140312/e71629a0/CommentsoftheNCSGtoEWGStatusReportMarch2014-0001.pdf
- and focus on privacy and Freedom of Expression concerns.

Please join us in the room - and online - and share your concerns and ideas!
Best,
Kathy

> Hi,
> There’s been a change in the schedule. The RDS (aka WHOIS) EWG

> There was also a workshop/panel discussion on RDS arranged by At-Large
> scheduled at that same time, which I can’t seem to find on the online
