as someone who tried to do a PhD in IoT (internet of things) related
application, I am definitely interested by the trends but also concerned by
the sociological and economical impact.

the impact of IoT is amplified by the combination with cloud services (not
surprising to see Microsoft and Facebook announcing respectively Azure IoT
and messenger framework this week , focused on IoT) and big data. data
protection and security remains an open issue, and there were already
several problem for application liked to smart home and smart energy.

as software engineer, I see more work and capacity building needed on
letting developers aware about privacy by design and think such books would
be helpful
