For those interested
in the replacement for WHOIS process which started last
December, here is the update and latest workplan which I just
sent to the GNSO Council. There has been a great deal of
contention surrounding the order in which we are attacking the
policy issues, with many of us on the privacy side attempting
unsuccessfully to insist that the actual purpose of the
collection, use and disclosure of registration data be
determined before we start collecting everyone's wish list for
data elements. However, we soldier on, and if anyone is
interested in tuning in to the open meetings listed below
which are due to take place in Helsinki on the 27th and 28th
of June, please feel free to do so. The dialin instructions
are available on the agenda here
https://meetings.icann.org/en/icann56-sched. Simply click on
the agenda item. We would be delighted to see everyone in Helsinki,
if you can possibly attend. Please do not hesitate to contact
me if you have questions.
Kind regards,
Stephanie Perrin
NCSG Councillor
