Hi folks,
For the past years that have joined NSCG, have been observing and learning from folks in NCSG. Had attended several calls for meetings where I silently and actively followed discussions without raising hand and served as observed on WGs. All these efforts is simply to learn the more and to be able to volunteer and serve in future capacity.
I was moved by the statement of interest, resume of our councillors and the discussed of today's meeting. Was privileged to attend the meeting via phone through dial out (as usual) but wanted to contribute but couldn't get through.
Would suggest that the knowledge and experience of those that had be in the system and served should be passed across to newbies and those willing to learn. It will be a good idea where personal mentoring is encourage to produce future leaders and to better understand current situations of the system.
I was marveled reading through SOI and resume of Stephanie, Rafik and other folks. With this wealth of experiences and skills, it won't be easy or comfortable for fresh blood to step forward to compete. The fear of making mistakes or not up to the task might be the obstacle. Are did been that a form of personal coaching or individual mentoring exist or other ways of training aside of monthly calls might help to get fresh blood nomination.
Suggest that every councilors, chair and experienced folks should have attached someone interested in their field of interest as in the case of supervisor and research student so as to reproduce better us.
Kind regards.
