Hi

Since I’m in Europe six hours ahead of you EST folks maybe I can clarify before you all wake up and reengage.  Brett, Milton was merely conveying what someone called him yesterday.  If you’re really not aware, the Heritage/Cruz campaign has fired up the fanatical alt right, so when some of us sent tweets simply noting the GAO responses etc. we started getting hate tweets. One NCUC member told me yesterday he’d been threatened with violence and had to block people.  When I looked at some of their tweet streams I was pretty taken aback since I don’t interact with this side of American culture.  Rapid xenophobia, people saying Obama wants to give the Internet to “the muslims,” the dictators, the UN, whatever, and the Internet is ours and foreigners can go fuck themselves, etc etc.  I didn’t see any evidence any of them had a clue what the IANA is.

Nobody is saying you guys endorse this stuff, but there’s no way around the fact that these are the people who have rallied to your cause.  It’s not a pleasant turn of events, and no matter the outcome of the transition these folks are going to part of the landscape going forward.  Maybe Cruz continues to wind them up with his eye on the next election, who knows, but they’re here now.

Thanks

Bill

Really Milton? I've been trying to stay out of this pissing match. But this is absurd:

"And if you don’t like epithets, you should see the kinds of names (“dipshit” is a relatively tame example) one gets called by these people when you attempt to counter these distortions."

Can't we just accept that reasonable people can have different opinions and avoid insults and innuendo?
