Hi,

if I may suggest a way to go forward here. We tried before to wordsmith and clarify the questions in order to be diplomatic and avoid misunderstanding. However text remains text and people tend unconsciously to over-interpret things.

We can try again what we did in Dublin by having a pre-hyderabad confcall with the board member Markus Krummer to explain the questions and the background so he can liaise with the board and help to manage the joint session.

for questions, we need to choose those which can led to debate and discussion with board members to know their opinions. Those which may get quick and short answer can be asked during the different session of public forum planned for Hyderabad meeting. Also better to stick to max 3 questions.

Best,

Rafik

Hi Ayden

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say, not bloody likely….

Anyway, some of the board inevitably will read our questions through the prisms of collective memory, ingrained assumptions, third hand stories, etc etc.  Probably can’t control for this other than to take a second and explain what is intended at the front end...

Also — I appreciate that the Board likes to receive a copy of our questions in advance (presumably so that Staff can draft a response or prepare a briefing for them)... But is there any chance we can get a copy of these notes in advance, too, so that we know our question(s) have been interpreted correctly? I remember this being an issue in Marrakech where one of our questions had been read differently than we had intended.

I agree - we know the answer.  SO lets use this more productively and say where we are on the various strands on HR and that we look forward to their continued engagement or something similar.

To Bills point we need to be constructive and forward looking in our discussions with the Board as well.

That will be a quick one... Answer=no.  Next.:-)

But of course we should ask.

Hi all,

I'd suggest:

Is the ICANN board making steps to implement a Human Rights Impact
Assessment of ICANN the organization?

Dear all,

As usual the board wants in advance topics or questions for our
meeting with them in Hyderabad.

Suggestions?
