SUMMARY

This week, recent attacks on the DNS infrastructure have generated lot of comments attributing causes of Dyn attacks to Internet of Things. Otherwise, the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA-16) hosted by Tunisia offers ITU members the opportunity to set the strategic direction of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) for the next four years. On Data Protection, The European's Article 29 Data Protection Working Party has written to WhatsApp to explain its privacy policy changes while in the U.S. Federal Communications Commission voted 3-2 to approve rules requiring broadband Internet Service Providers to provide customers more control over the use of their personal information. On IANA Stewardship transition, the recently completed transition of internet technical function oversight can’t be reversed, according to Assistant Commerce Secretary Lawrence E. Strickling.
