Hi Michael,

I will note that 2 of the 3 GNSO nominees are female and in the GNSO appointments motion we noticed our disappointment in the gender and geographic imbalance of the applicant pool.

One question that has been raised on the Council list is why, in light of these imbalances, only 15 people were appointed to this group. Review Teams can consist of up
to 21 appointees and the GNSO Selection Team nominated four additional individuals for consideration for the team, including Naveed from the GNSO, by the SOAC Chairs. Hopefully we'll get more information about what happened at that level during today's Council call.

>>
>> The selection of the SSR2 Review Team followed the new post-Transition process which assigned the responsibility for the selection of Review Team members to the chairs of ICANNs Supporting Organizations (SO's) and Advisory Committees (AC's). >> About Specific Reviews
>>
>> Specific Reviews are mandated by ICANN Bylaws and are crucial to the legitimacy and accountability of ICANN. Specific Reviews serve as ICANN's progress report to the world. They demonstrate how ICANN delivers on its commitments and identify areas where ICANN can improve. Specific Reviews are conducted by members of the stakeholder community who look at past processes, actions and outcomes in order to make recommendations to improve future performance.
