Dear all,
I am the one 4 candidates who applied by sending an email directly to Tapani, as his email suggested to let him know as soon as possible so I thought volunteering off-list is fine. I also wanted to avoid long threads of plus 1s, as it usually happens. Sorry for any confusion - I answered to Tapani directly that I can volunteer right after he sent the initial email to the list, and I couldn't foresee how this would develop.
Warm regards

Hi,

Not at all your fault. I think some were sent to Tapani directly as his original note suggested. It was probably me who first erred by sending it to the list - though in fairness to me, he had suggested in conversation that this is what I should do.

Thanks Avri, for bringing my attention to the 4 candidates, having >20 emails and +1 emails, sure made me skip some emails.
I apologize for the candidates, whom I missed their emails.

Hi,

I very much appreciate the support I have gotten. and hope I will be chosen for more council service.

However, I would like to point out that there are currently 4 candidates as far as I know and the call is still open for several more days.

As far as process, we sort of do have one, the NCSG EC, once all candidates are in at the end of the week's call. (I think Tapani gave a week) decides what to do. They have the full range of freedom given by the GNSO operating procedures.

While we could define more detailed processes, I think given the variety of possible exigent circumstances, it is best to leave this open and up to the elected NCSG EC.

Thanks Tapani,
I would like to share my observation about email threads, that gets too much responses when it comes to leadership positions. Not only in the NCUC, but in many ICANN working groups.  I think it is due to lack of any procedures for such cases.

I take this opportunity, to call upon the task-force whom they are working on NCUC procedures, to consider this case.

As for my opinion on the alternate councillor and since it is a short period, it could be divided among Avri and Martin. So one will resume during the period of ICANN 58 and soon to be switched to another for ICANN 59.

I think this will be a compromise solution since there are not written rules.

Best wishes,

Dear all,

As Amr Elsadr resigned from the council upon joining the staff, the
NCSG Executive Committee needs to appoint a temporary alternate to
replace him.

If you are interested in the job, please let me know as soon as
possible, but no later than Wednesday February 22 (one week from now).
The appointment is on the agenda of EC meeting on February 24, and we'd
want to have list of names at least two days in advance so we'll have
time to review them.

Please explain why you think you'd be good for the task and confirm
you could commit to the time it takes. Jumping in to the council
mid-term is not easy, so experience is one key criteria for the EC in
considering the appointment.

The term extends until ICANN60 in the fall in Abu Dhabi, although the
appointment can be made for a shorter time if the EC so chooses.
If this makes a difference for you, for example if you'd only be able
to do shorter time, or if you would not be interested in a shorter
appointment, let us know that, too.

Thank you,
