As a veteran of that [ridiculous] IAG process, I can confirm that the
procedure suggested does not make much sense in terms of how data
protection law is understood and enforced. Nevertheless, the procedure
and report was passed, and the GNSO accepted it despite the fact that
the registrars knew it would not work. Another IAG is being struck in
the fall, with a different Charter, and we will have to pay close
attention to that one to ensure that it makes more sense than the last
one did.

PS that committee and process currently has won the prize in my
experience (which includes 30 years in government, chalking up a few
committees that offered a tough record to beat) for utterly useless and
senseless going in circles. Nevertheless, I am going to join the next
one...either to beat the previous record holder, or validate that old
saw about repeating something being the triumph of hope over
experience....please join, it will be fun!
