SUMMARY


This week, cyberpolitics, geopolitics as China reportedly allows foreign technology companies to join a key government committee in an effort to ease foreign concerns over its cybersecurity policies while Iran announce launch of its first ever national data network.  On Net neutrality, European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC), has published new net neutrality guidelines to ensure open internet access for all. This is the final stage in the three-year process of adopting net neutrality legislation in the European Union. On data protection, More than 100 US companies have signed the EU-US Privacy Shield deal enabling them to receive personal data from the bloc in compliance with EU standards, the European Commission said in a statement on Thursday.
Reagrding ICANN, the ICANN 2016 Nominating Committee has announced its selections for seven leadership positions.
As for events, we note the African Peering and Interconnection forum in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where a new Internet Society study says "Internet access and availability are not enough to get people online". Also, we have the second french african countries school in Internet Governance in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
