All,
I’d like to encourage all NCSG members to consider joining this discussion tomorrow about Work Stream 2 for the CCWG Accountability efforts. Especially if you haven’t joined a working group before and are looking for a place to begin, there are a number of issues in Work Stream 2 that may be of interest and are critically important to building an accountable organization that manages the DNS.
Remember that Work Stream 2 is not “2nd-tier” in importance of issues related to making ICANN accountable, but rather those accountability issues that were not directly tied to the IANA transition. So for example the issue of “increased transparency at ICANN” - one of the most important and fundamental issues for accountability had to wait until Work Stream 2 to be addressed. Transparency is but one of nine issues in Work Stream 2, and there are 5 sub-issues within transparency - we need NCSG members to join the working group and tackle one or two of these 9 accountability issues in Work Stream 2.
The NCSG webinar on Work Stream 2 is tomorrow, Friday 17 June at 14:00 UTC for 2 hours. Maryam will send out the official invite with call-in details for the webinar, and of course our Adobe Connect room for the webinar is <https://icann.adobeconnect.com/ncsg/> https://icann.adobeconnect.com/ncsg/
Below is tomorrow’s draft discussion agenda, listing the 9 Work Stream 2 accountability issues, and a reading list to prepare for the meeting and get up to speed on Work Stream 2. Work Stream is supposed to “kick off” in Helsinki, so it is important that we discuss the issues now, and bring in many new participants into the NCSG accountability efforts now.
