The essence of ICANN's regulatory regime is its control of the DNS root. 
Please explain to me how you get "ICANN-like mechanisms" for the many different Internet issues that don't have a single centralized global point of control.

Fadi's peddling of ICANN as the solution to everything only confirms his lack of knowledge of the political, institutional and governance aspects of IG.
