Sorry everyone, just want to point out that this is not an election or an agreement.

The names are put forward to the EC and the EC decides based on ability and the criteria that Tapani put out.

This is a great suggestion and could work if both Martin and Avri agrees.

Actually I think we have the best of both worlds here.

Avri can indeed step in as an immediate replacement, and frankly I think we won’t have time to conduct elections before Copenhagen, so we will need her there.

But Avri has also made it clear that she doesn’t want to run for the rest of Amr’s term, so the fact that we have Martin willing and able to run is a good thing. Perhaps Martin can be encouraged to “shadow” Avri in Copenhagen and she can familiarize him with some of the things going on if he needs it.

Hi all,

I’ve been following the GNSO Council activity and I was an Temp Alternate briefly filling in for Ed Morris when he had to be away because on medical issues this last December/January (although I’ve never seen such an active person while in medical leave!).

I always had in mind to join the GNSO Council and the WG leadership places once I felt ready and I could be of use for the cause. Since I just entered the world of the GNSO Council I could say I am a Newcomer in there, but never the less, that brief experience also confirmed that I want to and can participate at that level. I am up to step in and fill Amr spot, and I also intend to run for elections for the full term council position. Meanwhile, I will keep getting closer to the GNSO Council work to keep learning and be prepared for when the time comes.

Of course I feel kind of foolish proposing myself when Avri can do the job better, faster and easier, but I want to let the community know that I am there, ready and willing, if you feel you need someone in the Council.

Best,

Martín

Hi,

First thanks for appointing me for the one week slot filling in while

the EC figures out how it wants to proceed. I appreciate the confidence.

I just want to indicate that I am willing to serve as the Temp Alternate

for as long as it is useful to NCSG for me to do so. I think that given

the proximity of the Copenhagen meeting, serving until then would

certainly be something I am willing to do. I am also willing to serve

longer if that is desired and useful.

One thing the EC may want to consider is holding our elections early, so

that the person elected to fill Amr's seat could then go in as the

Alternate and start serving early. I will not be running for a council

seat as I think 7 years as an (s)elected council member (5 as NCA

selected and 2 as NCSG elected) is long enough and am happy sitting in

the alternate bullpen* for deployment during emergencies and the like.

In any case I also want to offer my help to anyone who is appointed,

should they need or desire any help that I might be able to offer.

Dear all,

As Amr Elsadr resigned from the council upon joining the staff, the

NCSG Executive Committee needs to appoint a temporary alternate to

replace him.

If you are interested in the job, please let me know as soon as

possible, but no later than Wednesday February 22 (one week from now).

The appointment is on the agenda of EC meeting on February 24, and we'd

want to have list of names at least two days in advance so we'll have

time to review them.

Please explain why you think you'd be good for the task and confirm

you could commit to the time it takes. Jumping in to the council

mid-term is not easy, so experience is one key criteria for the EC in

considering the appointment.

The term extends until ICANN60 in the fall in Abu Dhabi, although the

appointment can be made for a shorter time if the EC so chooses.

If this makes a difference for you, for example if you'd only be able

to do shorter time, or if you would not be interested in a shorter

appointment, let us know that, too.

Thank you,
