statement from the researchers that they will not disclose the addresses 
to others, etc.?

We talk a lot about WHOIS and privacy protection, so I understand that 
Milton "does not feel comfortable."

But if the purpose is clearly defined and at least some assurance given 
(though I think it would be very difficult to verify the use of the data 
- beyond getting an assurance).

If you feel that there is some kind of undertaking in terms of privacy - 
my address representing a NCUC member can go to them.
