Hi everybody,
I’d like to thank Dhouha for nominating me, and Tapani for seconding her
nomination, to represent the NCSG on the GNSO Council. For those who then
followed with their support: community leaders like Cintra and Nuno,
relative newcomers like Patrick and Carlos, and everyone else: thank you for
your confidence in me.
Desiree is right – we have a great group of candidates. Let’s not forget
our returning Counselors, Avri and Amr: they both define the term ‘work
ethic’. Whomever is selected to join them on Council are very lucky Amr
and Avri will be there to guide and direct them as we put together the best
possible team to represent our community.
One request: each of us has four votes. Please cast your first vote for
David Cake. As Vice Chair, David is positioned to do more for the
noncommercial community than anyone else. We need him on Council. So,
please, first vote for David and then take a look at the rest of us and vote
as your heart and head suggests.
With that in mind, I do accept the nomination made by Dhouha. I can’t
promise miracles, but I can promise that if I am selected I’ll work as
hard as I can to represent noncommercial interests, both organizations and
individuals, on the Council and beyond.
Thanks for your consideration,
Ed

Any member of the NCSG may nominate any NCSG active member either for the

Once nominated, the nominee is responsible for public acceptance of the
nomination and for making a public statement that includes:
Name, declared region of residence, gender and employment;
Any conflicts of interest;
Reasons for willingness to take on the tasks of the particular position;
Qualifications for the position; and
Statement of availability for the time the position requires.
The nominee’s statement may also include any other information that the
candidate believes is relevant.
** Also note that under the rules, no more than two (2) NCSG GNSO Council
Representatives can be declared resident of the same geographic region as
defined by ICANN. The 2 other continuing NCSG GNSO Councilors (those not up
for election in 2014) are from the following regions: Africa, North America.
This means there could only be one additional person elected from each of
those already represented regions, and that would be determined by the top
vote getter from that region in 2014.
** These terms all commence on 17 October 2014, at the conclusion of the
2014 Annual ICANN Meeting in Los Angeles.
Best Regards,
Rafik Dammak
NCSG Chair
