I think we have so much tied the internet to services which can just be
switched off by a particular govt or individual. Internet is network or
networks and that is infrastructure wise.

If access to infrastructure in the USA is shut down or denied access to or
if ICANN is shutdown by the USA. It will just be a matter of time for
infrastructure in the rest of the world to adapt and continue
internetworking.

That said, this is not to underestimate the implications of a possible
attempt from the states but it's just to buttress that the Internet has
grown and expanded to become un-killable with a kill switch in a country.
Not even Trump can trample the internet for so long ;-)
