This week, The EU-US Umbrella Agreement on the protection of personal data exchanged for law enforcement purposes was backed by a broad majority of members of european parliament on Thursday. The Umbrella Agreement covers the transfer of all personal data, such as names, addresses or criminal records, exchanged between the EU and US for the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of criminal offences, including terrorism. On E-commerce, European Commission sets out proposals for simplified tax rules to "unlock e-commerce and make it easier for online businesses". On Net neutrality, Donald Trump announced a third advisor to oversee the Federal Communications Commission's transition from Democratic to Republican control. Reagarding cyberattack, Russia's main domestic security agency says unspecified foreign special services are plotting a series of cyber attacks aimed at destabilizing the nation's financial system. On Internet usage, a new report from ITU says that 47 percent of the world's people now use the Internet. Moreover, reports from the Gambia says that the state has banned the internet and international phone calls during presidential elections on Thursday.
