I’m writing you because you previously contacted me in regard to an open letter of support for academics in Turkey. As you probably already know, on Tuesday began a deep and large-scale purge of all academic institutions in Turkey and yesterday the government instituted a travel ban on all academics and declared a three-month state of emergency. These are terrifying times, so I have a few things to ask of you:

(2) Please share this letter with colleagues everywhere and with media or educational organizations, if you have contacts;
(3) If you would like to receive updates in the future about actions you can take to support academics and academic institutions in Turkey, please reply to this email with “Email List” in the subject line. The list will only be used to inform you about actions (i.e. letters, press conferences, conferences, protests).
